Northern Shoveler
A male and female Northern Shoveler taking off as I stopped to take their photo. This is the first time that I’ve been able to capture an image of this species.
I’m assuming they’re on their way to their breeding grounds which could possibly be as far away as Alaska.
Cheniere Lake #2
Cheniere Lake, West Monroe, LA.
This is a new view of Cheniere Lake for me. I was here yesterday with a different camera and was not happy with any of my shots, so I returned today with the Nikon ZF. I have really started to love this camera with its retro styling and its absolutely beautiful images.
Cheniere Lake
Cheniere Lake always provides an image, regardless of the weather or the time of day.
I deleted all of my Adobe products a couple of months ago and have been looking for a replacement. The latest applications that I’ve tried are Photomator and Pixelmator, recently acquired by Apple. This is the first photo that I’ve edited and posted using them. I’m quite happy with the results.
LSU Ag Center
This beautiful property in Calhoun, LA, was used by LSU for decades as an experimental agricultural research center. A few years ago LSU decided to close the station. According to the terms of the lease, the property reverted to the ownership of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. They have decided that it would be the perfect location for an industrial park despite the fact that Calhoun is a small, rural town populated mainly with families who left the urban areas for country living. Part of the plans (that I understand at this point) are for the buildings and trees to be removed and the hill cut down so that the land is flat!
This property screams out to be a park! I, for one, would pay admission to help support it!
Rising Water
It all begins with an idea.
The river appears to still be rising. Ouachita River, West Monroe, LA, March 6, 2025.
